Equipment needed: pencil, notebook, folder, graphing calculator (TI-83 or TI-84)

Evaluation: 60% Tests or Summative Assessments, 30% Quizzes

10% Self-Assessment/Concept Checks/Data Journal

Grading Scale: A=100%-92%, A- =91%-90%

B+=89%-88%, B= 87%-82%, B- = 81%-80%

C+=79%-78%, C= 77%-72%, C- = 71%-70%

D+=69%-68%, D= 67%-62%, D- = 61%-60%

Cell phone and Chromebook calculators will not be permitted in class, since they are not permitted on any standardized testing due to their internet capabilities. Phones may not be in sight during class or they will be taken to the office as per school policy.

Grading expectations:

* Students are expected to do quality work. This means: Each problem shows or describes the procedure that was used to get the answer. Students will self-assess their work using a rubric. Each test and quiz question will be assessed using a rubric.

* Students are expected to participate during class by asking and answering questions, as well as taking notes. Students will self-assess their class participation, note taking, and preparation (Quarterly) using a rubric. Students will be expected to turn in their evidence of practice/homework and student data journal, if their grade is below a “C”.

* Throughout each chapter and after every quiz or test, students must record their progress in their data journal. Students will also document and reflect on how they prepared in order to meet the learning objectives and set goals and create plans for improvement. This may include getting tutored and correcting their understanding, along with retaking the assessment. It may also include changing their preparation strategies. Any student below a “C” will meet with the instructor to review the students data journal and self-assessment together in order to ensure that the student is more successful.

* During the last few minute of class, Students will record short reflections in their data journal about their understanding and what areas they need help or further practice.

Tutoring available every hour by a math teacher or by instuctor before/after school & lunch.
